Assignment Title: Case Study: Celiac Disease

What I learned: This assignment provided me with the tools for research to better understand the pathophysiology of disease.  Case Studies require skills to assess lab values, nutrition assessments including anthropometric and biochemical measurements, physical evaluations, and dietary history.  This assignment also required background research for appropriate diet, lifestyle, and treatment for celiac disease.

Reflection to assignment:  Case studies require a lot of research and understanding of a specific disease for correct medical nutrition therapy interventions.  This assignment helped me to see the connection with lab values, symptoms, and experience that registered dietitians require to be an integral part of the medical team.  

Relevance to the profession:  Case studies require all of the information that we have learned in medical nutrition therapy and a combination of nutrition and assessment skills.  These skills are required daily as patients check into medical facilities and are in need of nutrition assessments, diagnoses, and interventions.
